Thien Signals Tet Truce In Principle Amid Tensions
SAIGON AP President Nguyen Van Thien said in principle there will be a Tet truce for the lunar new year on February 6 but the government has time to decide. The Viet Cong has announced a four day cease fire starting February 5. Allied sources expect a 24 hour halt with full South Vietnamese alert. US forces will observe the government ceasefire as in past holidays. South Vietnamese HQ ordered most leaves canceled for two weeks to keep troops at posts and curfews lengthened in Can Tho and other cities.
