Bill Would Give 8 Million In Community Highway Aid
A House bill would distribute an additional 8 million dollars to cities and towns for highway work. The Ways and Means Committee favored the measure, led by Rep. Thomas C. Wojtkowski. The plan uses a new formula weighting population employment road mileage and equalized value to boost core cities. Pittsfield, North Adams, Great Barrington and others would receive varying sums, with New Marlboro highlighted for road mileage despite smaller population.
