Washington Trades Bobby Shantz to Pittsburgh for Three Minor Leaguers

The Washington Senators sent veteran southpaw Bobby Shantz to the Pittsburgh Pirates two hours before the midnight deadline of the three week trading period. In return, Washington received first baseman R. C. Stevens, third baseman Harry Bright, and pitcher Benny Daniels from the Pirates. Stevens and Bright had been with Salt Lake City in the PCL, while Daniels was with Columbus in the American Association. The deal was part of a day of interleague moves totaling 10 trades involving 25 players.

Registration for Bousquet Ski Classes Opens Monday

Registration for the annual adult ski classes sponsored by the Department of Parks and Recreation opens Monday and runs through December. John C. March si, recreation supervisor, announced the 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. office hours at 874 North St. Court. McDermott, director of Bousquet's ski school, will supervise sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays at 7 p.m. starting January 4, with eight lessons and an hour of instruction plus two hours of tow use after instruction. classes limited to 10 skiers per instructor.

PGA Lists Prices for Olympia Fields Championship

Boston University announces the indefinite suspension of co captain Pete McCann of Framingham and Russ McCurdy of Pawtucket for a breach of discipline. Jones challenges Archie Moore for heavyweight title

Doug Jones of New York filed a challenge with the New York State Boxing Commission to fight champion Archie Moore for the heavyweight title.
