In the final official tally Kennedy leads Nixon by 111,957 votes nationwide as Rhode Island completes the 50 state count. The nationwide total votes for president on Nov 8 reach 68,833,254, with Kennedy at 34,221,355 and Nixon at 34,109,398, while others total 502,501. Kennedy earns 50.1 percent of the major party vote and 49.7 percent of the total. Nixon 49.9 major party and 49.8 total.
