Union Station Relocation To East St. Area Sought
The plan to move Pittsfield’s Union Station from West Street to near East Street advances as urban renewal would demolish the current structure. New York Central and the Pittsfield Housing Authority seek Council approval and state utility approval for the relocation to the North Adams junction area. Passenger use shows a sharp decline, with four daily trains stopping here and mixed boarding figures reported for 1964 and the first five months of the year.
