Mr. H. P. Merrill, former Bank of Benson cashier, reports Keystone Copper Company properties at Johnson show strong potential. Hagerman main shaft reaches 635 feet with high grade ore from 40 to 65 feet and extensive drifting. OK group near Hagerman yields seven foot high grade oxide ore. Cobriza and Thunderbolt groups actively shipping ore and expanding development work.

U. S. Cavalry Recruiting Sergeant H. P. Scott from the Tucson station visited town Sunday and enlisted two men for the cavalry service. They are C. F E. Shepherd and Chip Galen, both well known locally. Shepherd, formerly of Fairbank, has been night watchman here for months and earned many friends. Galen, long employed by Boquillas Cattle Co. as vaquero and horse breaker, is also popular.

California Lady Enjoys Scenic Drive to Mescal Ranch

Mrs Ida H Getzwiller of Los Angeles and her son J H Getzwiller visited the ranch of P C Getzwiller about sixteen miles west of Benson last week. She praised the Mesa area scenic beauty and the well conditioned roads on the trip, noting the pleasant weather and enjoyment for outdoors lovers.

Red Cross gathers for meeting as garments sent to Tucson

A well attended Red Cross meeting featured broad interest. Another box of hospital garments shipped to Tucson headquarters. The society presented initial bath towels to C. E. Shepherd and Chip Galen who left for the Presidio in San Francisco to join the regular cavalry. Mrs. J. E. Ferris presented the towels in farewell remarks before a crowd of members and townspeople.
