Prohibition Helps the Workingman Says Mining Delegate

H S McClusky and George Powell, delegates from Local Union No 70 Miami Arizona, report to the Western Federation of Miners convention. McClusky says prohibition improved worker conditions, wages rose in Miami Ray Clifton Morenci Metcalf camps, and organizing became possible among mostly foreign labor. He notes dry laws reduced bootlegging and boosted morals, urging stricter enforcement and future reforms to aid organized labor.

Ladies Aid Elects Officers and Plans Quilt Work

The Ladies' Aid Society of the M. E. Church elected officers for upcoming year: President Mrs A W Bard Vice President Mrs Walter S Gray Second VP Mrs Sam Wilson Secretary Treasurer Mrs L E Weigand. They will meet at Mrs J E Ferris to piece a quilt next week. Four new members joined at the last meeting. The Tres Alamos public school opens Sept 11 with 18 students Miss Nellie Hudson to teach from Urich Missouri plans to settle in the valley on a 320 acre homestead near the school and sink artesian wells.

Reuser Family Arrives at Old Homestead Ranch Arizona

Mrs. Randolph Reuser and her son Randolph Jr arrive from Santa Barbara with Mr. Reuser from Tucson to their Old Homestead Ranch ten miles down the river. They plan Arizona residence and praise crops watered by a Samson windpump. Mr. Reuser buys six registered Holstein heifers from Tucson dairyman Brown to start a dairy herd. Josh Young had run the place. ownership shifts to the original owners for an indefinite stay.

Marriage of Isadro Bernal and Miss Beatrice Ohnesorgen

The ceremony was held at the Catholic church last Monday at 7 30 in the morning officiated by Rev F W Collymore. A reception and dance followed at the couple’s north side home where they will reside.

Benson church move story told by Frank Vaughan

Frank Vaughan recalled early Benson days when volunteers moved a frame church to a new site with cheers. The minister arrived and scolded the workers for Sunday labor, and Vaughan noted no one on the crew knew it was Sunday. Vaughan campaigns for Representative.
