Mrs Laura Blacklidge suffered painful arm burns when a large stamp toppled a lamp and set curtains and clothing ablaze last Sunday night. Neighbors Mr and Mrs Max Treu heard the light and helped extinguish the fire, with her recovering at home as burns heal.

Teachers Reception Honors Benson School Staff

The Ladies Aid Society of the Presbyterian church hosted a reception for Benson schools at the High School last night. The event featured vocal and instrumental music and attracted many townspeople who accepted invitations. Punch was served as the gathering concluded. Robert Wallace, a Denver Colorado native visiting Benson, departed for Tucson to join the University of Arizona senior engineering class, while maintaining Benson as his home with plans to return after the term ends.

Prohibition Speakers Travel Arizona in Campaign Tour

Mrs. Doane Merrill returned after a six week southern state tour campaigning for Prohibition with Mrs. Gradine Gammage. Merrill’s singing drew crowds while Gammage urged voters on the wet or dry issue and both expect a large Prohibition victory. Merrill rests until October 1 then teams with Mrs. Beauchamp of Kentucky for a state wide tour toward election day. Ysidro Quibuiz, eleven, fell from a swing at Grammar School and broke his left forearm. Principal Mr. Graham and Dr. Thompson treated the injury before the boy returned home.

Proffitt Wins NRA Cup With High Series Score

The final shoot for the National Rifle Association cup was held at the club range last Sunday at 2 pm. J T Proffitt scored 46 to win the trophy. Several entrants could not complete the series due to various reasons.
