All Together for Arizona Unity for Water Plan

Admission standards raised for Arizona normal schools

A joint meeting of Tempe and Northern Arizona Normal School boards with the State Board of Education announced higher entry requirements. After August 15, 1919 applicants must have one year of high school, and after August 15, 1920 two years. The change stems from expanded rural high schools and aims to avoid harming current students. Canning Demonstrations Under Way Across Cochise County

Miss Louise Sporleder leads a series of canning demonstrations in Cochise County starting July 7. The sessions run 1 PM to afternoon, teach cold pack canning, require a quart jar and materials, and conclude with July 19 at San Simon. Benson event slated for High School unless changes.

Prospecting in Catalina Mountains Reveals Argentiferous Ore

Messrs Frank Jones and F E A Brown return from the Catalinas after two weeks with prospecting gear and promising silver lead ore from the Apache Chief claim. Samples suggest argentiferous galena and the ledge runs about sixteen feet wide. Nearby claims indicate similar ore while the camp area offers water, game, and a nearby wagon road for shipping ore. Also an ad for Chamberlain’s Tablets appears.

First foreign honoree for University of Arizona president

Dr. Klein Smid, president of the University of Arizona, received the degree of Doctor of Laws honoris causa from the National University of Mexico. It marked the first time a foreigner was so honored in the university's history.
