Severe storm hits Benson with widespread property damage
A Monday afternoon storm in Benson brought the worst weather in years, with no fatalities but extensive destruction. Frame buildings were blown down, trees uprooted, and lin es of roads and culverts washed out. The Benson Auditorium, Moss drugstore, and several homes suffered major damage as rain fell in torrents and winds felled structures along the west side of town.
