Arizona Smelting and Power Company to Blow In Smelter

Work begins as Arizona Smelting and Power Company prepares a copper smelter expected to blast in about ninety days. The plant will process all grades of copper ores to produce copper matte with initial capacity 250 tons and rapid jacket additions. Charles E. Relief Campaign for Near East Postponed to February

The $30,000,000 Armenian and Syrian Relief drive is postponed to February 3 to 10 across the Southern Military Department states. Urgent wireless pleas from Western Asia and Europe ask for food clothing and agricultural supplies as delays threaten thousands of deaths. The American Committee for Relief in the Near East urges generous oversubscription to aid Armenia Syria Palestine Northwest Persia and the Russian Caucasus until self support is possible.

Wilson urges relief drive for Near East aid

President Wilson cables Cleveland H. Dodge that the hundred million dollar U S relief request does not replace the Near East campaign. He urges nationwide contributions for the January 12 18 drive and the February 3 10 sweep in the Southwest. The Paris cables note the Near East relief effort seeks thirty million dollars for relief and rehabilitation.

Della Judd has won the Garment Making Project championship earning a free trip to the Junior Short Course in Tucson January 2021-22. Florence Coons Clare McGuire and Theresa Sabin also qualified as All-Star Achievement members after four years of club work. The Liberty Club aims to send a larger delegation next year.
