Bennington to honor composer-artist Carl Ruggles with Sept. 29 festival
The 92-year-old Carl Ruggles, a leading yet sparsely produced 20th century composer, will be celebrated with a full-length concert of all his works and an exhibit of his paintings at Mt. Anthony Union High School auditorium. Four regional orchestras will perform, featuring Sun-Treader and works by Bennington College faculty and noted soloists. A reception and talks by John Kirkpatrick, Eric Salzman, and Peter Yates will accompany the event, with proceeds benefiting local arts groups.
