Investigation Continues In Shooting At Woodford

State police detective Peter Barton and State's Atty. R. Marshall Witten pursued the Woodford shooting of 33-year-old Douglas H. Britch. Britch, wounded in the left shoulder near the heart, remained in critical but satisfactory condition at Albany Medical Center. No warrants had been issued as of presstime.

In a North Sea wreck, salvage crane Magnus cannot reach the German submarine Hai amid a gale. Nineteen of twenty crew are feared dead with one survivor, Peter Silbernagel, 23, a cook, reporting many crewmen trapped below deck as rescue efforts proceed under rough seas and diver support.

Gemini 11 astronauts return after record mission at Cape Kennedy

Conrad and Gordon landed the USS Guam after a 71 hour 44 orbit flight marked by an automatic re entry and near perfect splashdown. Gemini 12 plans were expanded to four days to extend experiments, Lovell and Aldrin named as pilots. The astronauts recovered aboard the carrier, in excellent shape, with wives watching on TV and Humphrey praising the mission. Gordon’s spacewalk was cut short by fatigue though a tether to the Agena target remained.

Hoff to base campaign on administrative record in Vermont

Hoff Calls on Snelling To Renounce Sales Tax

Gov. Philip Hoff urged Republican nominee Richard Snelling to renounce support for a state sales tax now or in the future. Hoff cited newspaper clippings and a Shelburne news conference to claim Snelling campaigns on a sales tax plank while noting Snelling denies only a sales tax, not tax reform. Hoff said the state’s high taxes and strong economy argue against new taxation and backed relying on a joint Republican Democrat study committee before any reform.
