Federal plan to create 125000 acre green belt along Connecticut River faces Vermont resistance
Vermont protests say federal plan to create a river corridor park and recreation area along the Connecticut River was not circulated in the state. Forrest Orr, director of the Interagency Committee on Natural Resources, accuses the federal government of ignoring Vermont's requests. The proposal would acquire 52000 acres with Vermont and three other states retaining 70000 acres, and a federal share of 57 million dollars with unclear state contributions.
