Iron Horse Leads Monday TV Night Says TV Column

Hollywood critic Dick Dubrow reviews nine new premieres across ABC CBS NBC. Iron Horse stars Dale Robertson as a charming con man who wins a railroad, delivering entertaining, lighthearted frontier action. Run Buddy Run on CBS impresses with its slick setup and strong cast. NBC offers Roger Miller and The Road West, both with uneven results. The Monkees misses the mark, while many other CBS and NBC projects fall flat or feel manufactured.

Boston doctors bid to rejoin severed leg in historic operation

In Boston City Hospital a 18 year old Roxbury youth who lost his left leg in a motorcycle crash Sept 1 had the severed limb rejoined by a surgical team. Doctors say the reconnected limb is alive and in good condition at this early stage, with a potential first in medical history if permanent usefulness returns. The operation followed cooling the limb, flushing vessels, and careful reconnection of muscles nerves and vessels to reduce shock and infection. Earlier similar limb reconnections occurred at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1962 and 1963. Meanwhile in Colombia four killed and twenty injured when a freight train struck a stopped passenger train in Santander Providence.
