Bennington Banner (Newspaper) - September 13, 1963, Bennington, Vermont Substitute teachers set for Village trustees of the Bennington graded school District wednesday approved a list of substitute teachers for the coming year. The list was submitted to the Board by District supt. Allan j. Heath. Substitute teachers for the elementary grades Are mrs. Joan Boepple mrs. Louis Chiarappa mrs. Betty Kennedy mrs. Gertrude Martin mrs. Ellen Fuller mrs. Carol Miller mrs. Jane Lawson mrs. Marjorie Hayes miss Anna Leahy mrs. Sheila Bizzaro mrs. Lorraine Eastman miss Elizabeth Thomas mrs. Barbara Wolf mrs. Mary Anne Schaad and mrs. Genevieve Dawson. Secondary school substitute teachers Are mrs. Jeanne Parsley English mrs. Beverly Rosen English and history mrs. Ada sue Diamond Home economics mrs. Barbara Robbins Art and mrs. Lenore Marken English. Hospital again offers courses in nursing Putnam memorial Hospital this fall will again offer courses from the University of Vermont in medical surgical nursing and psychology to interested registered nurses and licensed practical nurses Robert d. Stout Hospital administrator has announced. Both courses will begin on the Day of registration tuesday sept. 24, and will continue through the full semester ending sometime in january. The once weekly three hour sessions for each course will be held tuesdays at 7 30 . According to present plans. The meeting night could be changed however if sufficient interest warranted it. Stout said the courses Are designed primal ily for Hospital personnel but qualified people in the Community will also be permitted to take them. Persons interested in taking the courses should Contact the nursing office at the Hospital. There is no charge to the individual for the instruction. The program is made possible by the Irene Heinz Given and John Laporte Given foundation inc. Which made a Grant to the Hospital of $25,000 for Post graduate education of registered and licensed practical nurses. The Grant is for $5,000 a year for five years. Instructors for the medical surgical course will be miss Rosalie Lombard r.n., b.s., a member of the gym staff. Teaching the psychology course will be James Gilbert a member of the Castleton state College staff who has been engaged by gym for the special assignment. Firemen s Parade set in Brattleboro Brattleboro a Brattleboro fire dept., of which t. Howard Mattison formerly of Bennington is chief will hold its annual Parade and Muster in connection with a fire prevention program sept. 29. Chief Mattison reports that this year an added Section has been made for floats carrying the theme of fire prevention. The Competition is open to any club school town Industry or individual who would like to enter. Contest entrants should get in touch with the Brattleboro fire dept., 103 Elliot st., Brattleboro at Alpine 4-4831.
