Viet Cong Driven From Tay Ninh

South Vietnamese infantry and U S jets drove most of a 1 000 man Communist force from Tay Ninh City suburbs and fought a fierce battle with 150 guerrillas trapped in Thai Thong hamlet. Casualties included 14 Viet Cong killed in an ambush south of Tay Ninh and an American soldier dead with five wounded.

Probers Fear Flight Recorder Lost in Depths

Investigators said there is little hope of locating the flight recorder from an Air France Caravelle that crashed into the Mediterranean near Nice killing 95 aboard. The depth of 3281 feet and rough seas hindered recovery as wreckage and bodies spread over a 1000 yard area. Fifteen bodies were recovered by midmorning. the jet apparently exploded before impact on the Corsica to Nice flight. Most passengers were French tourists. 13 children aged 3 to 12 were aboard. Americans unconfirmed.
