Eskimo art show faces possible early end says curator
Eskimo carvings and lithographs from Manasi Maniapik are featured in a Williamstown exhibition at the Picture Frame, with curator George Marcus warning that the art, shaped by bone and stone, may die out within a decade as younger generations pursue other occupations. The 45-piece display runs Aug 15 to Sept 15 and includes works from Pangnirtung near Hudson Bay and other communities, with prices rising as Eskimo art gains global acclaim.
