Youth in West Arlington and Sandgate Contribute Across Summer
During summer vacation many local youths in West Arlington and Sandgate held part time jobs, helped farms and trades, and pursued school programs. Sherre and Sylvia Vaughn ran a self raised vegetable stand in front of their home, while others babysat, mowed lawns, worked at a golf course, a lumber mill, or a local garage. Several prepared for college, trained in mechanics, or aided family ventures, with some singing in a church choir and swimming at the covered bridge. The list highlights broad participation by local families, including the Vaughns, Pickering, Hess, Trachte, Kimball, Erickson, Kenny, Wilcox, and others.
