St Michael’s College Eyes 2000 Enrollment by 1975
Very Rev Gerald E Dupont S S E, president of St Michael’s College, says with proper facilities the liberal arts school could double enrollment to about 2,000 by 1975 at an estimated $10 million cost. The college now enrolls around 1,200 with applications rising 200 yearly. He notes a teacher shortage and suggests lowering the student teacher ratio from 14 to 1 to stay competitive in salaries, and adds that 95 percent of students live on campus, making dormitory space for 1,000 more students potentially cost $5 million.
