Foreign Students Discuss War and Race at Bennington Party
A group of 35 foreign students hosted in Bennington spent a weekend in questions on the Vietnam War and U.S. race relations. Parviz Salhei from Iran voiced that the war is an international problem to be brought to the United Nations. A Cameroun student warned that if liberty for Negroes fails, America’s society could falter. Americans shared views on world and domestic politics and dating customs as two student rock bands provided entertainment.

Stay in School Says Leader for a Strong Future
A 1967 Stay-in-School campaign based on Lyndon Johnson’s call urges all citizens to support keeping youths in school. The piece highlights dropout costs, unemployment risk for non-graduates, and the need for educators and communities to engage potential dropouts and promote high school completion. It forecasts 32 million workers lacking high school education by 1975 if trends continue. Next week will discuss obtaining a high school equivalency certificate for those 20 or older.
