Israeli Jets Over Suez Sighted During 20 Minute Raid

United Press International reports Egyptian antiaircraft guns fired on three Israeli jets over Suez during a 20 minute air raid alert. Officials said none were hit. Israeli shells reportedly destroyed about 50 000 tons of oil at two refineries. In Jerusalem, Israel and Jordan clashed briefly across the Jordan River as tensions rose over the Beit Shean region and border infiltrators. Prime Minister Eshkol signaled no concession to lose territory gained in the war, naming the Golan Heights Sinai and the West Bank as retained.

Viet Cong mortars struck Independence Palace during a diplomatic reception for Nguyen Van Thieu hours after his inauguration as South Vietnam’s president.
