Elderly groups form steering panel to study needs in Bennington
A Bennington town meeting on elderly services produced consensus that current care is inadequate. About 2,800 residents 65 plus were identified in 1975 Vermont stats, with guesses on housing, work, health care, and nutrition needs. A steering committee and nine subcommittees were created, headed by David Wilner, to define issues, gather statistics, and coordinate efforts, with the first steering committee meeting scheduled for Nov 8 at noon at Putnam Memorial Hospital.

Directed verdict looms in murder case over third floor gun claim
In a tense courtroom session the defense urged a directed verdict, saying no witness placed Martin on the Palace Hotel third floor and no motive or proof tied Minckler’s companion to the crime.
