Springfield voters to decide on $59 million hydro project
Vermont headlines report ongoing debate over Springfield's municipal hydroelectric project. Opponents from Concerned Citizens for the Future of Springfield urge a "no" vote at the Oct 20 meeting, while CVPS campaigns against the plan. March 1975 town meeting had supported it, but court-ordered public-notice issues prompted the new referendum. The dispute ties to CVPS as the local utility and a shared ad agency.

Kaplow reinstated as New Haven patrolman with back pay
Paul Kaplow, rookie New Haven patrolman fired in 1975 for allegedly lying about marijuana use, is ordered reinstated with back pay by the Connecticut Board of Mediation and Arbitration. The board ruled his discharge was without due cause. Kaplow, who admitted three puffs as a high school student in 1969, had stated on his police application that he had not used marijuana. He may decide soon whether to return to active duty, while he continues in the city Traffic and Parking Department.
