West German forces stormed a hijacked Lufthansa 747 in Mogadishu killing three of four hijackers and freeing all 86 hostages after a five day, six thousand mile odyssey across three continents. Rutland Man Killed In Shaftsbury Curve Crash
A Rutland man, 46, Peveley Leno Jr., died when his 1976 Ford station wagon left Route 7 at Bottum Hill north of Shaftsbury and struck a tree at 10:25 p.m. The curve is slated for reconstruction by the state highway department as plans to ease the bend progress.
