F111A raids hit near Hanoi amid Saigon airwar

UPI reports F111A swingwing bombers struck a missile plant 10 miles northeast of Hanoi and other targets as monsoons limit raids. More than 200 strikes flown. In ground fighting, Communist forces overran the Ben Het camp in the Central Highlands, while Viet Cong pressed near Saigon and Duc Co. A US carrier raid and helicopter losses reported.

Chinese doctors welcomed to U S visit in 20 years

The first Chinese doctors to visit the United States in nearly two decades arrived for a three week program to study internal medicine gynecology and obstetrics. American doctors including Dr Paul Dudley White welcomed them saying there are no political or economic boundaries in medicine.

Queen Elizabeth heckled by drunken Scottish students

Stirling Scotland UPS Queen Elizabeth faced a drunken campus protest during a university visit. About 400 of Stirling University’s 2,400 students shouted obscenities, hurled a wine bottle, and surged toward the Queen while staff and police protected her. She smiled through the incident and left by limousine.

Protestant attack on Catholic church in Belfast shocks city

In Belfast a Protestant mob desecrated St Anthony's Catholic church and a parish hall, smashed altars and statues, and set Catholic pubs ablaze as troops fired at a police driver who refused to stop at a barrier. The violence marked the worst sectarian rioting in Northern Ireland in years.

Senate Approves Extra Funds for Amtrak Project
