Firing of Manchester village policeman remains unexplained
Manchester Village Trustees refused to state why they terminated police sergeant Frank L. Dupree after a letter dated October 6 announced his firing. The action followed Dupree’s refusal to issue village moving tickets, instead enforcing state uniform tickets sent to the Motor Vehicles Bureau in Montpelier, with no village revenue. The board debated defending against the uniform-ticket law and considered using four sheriff’s deputies on weekends while seeking a replacement.
