Vermont blocks stock sales by two out-of-state firms
The Department of Banking and Insurance refused to allow Mauchly Associates of Montgomery Pennsylvania and Scientific Control Corp. of Dallas Texas to sell stock in Vermont. Banking Commissioner James Hunt cited an investigation showing prejudicial action by insiders who bought shares at about one-fifth of the public sale price in the last three months. Both firms were privately held and offering shares to the public for the first time. The move follows concerns about fairness in public stock offerings. The same dispatch notes a state government reorganization review in Montpelier.
