Two Traffic Lights State Plan Three-Lane U S 7 Stretch
Vermont Highway Department plans immediate action on U S 7 north of Bennington. A $50 000 betterment project will convert the route to a three lane road with a center left turn lane and add a second traffic light at Monument Plaza Shopping Center. The Willow Road Kocher Drive intersection will become a four way junction with Kocher Drive closed east of the railroad. A parallel new road will route traffic from Kocher to Willow Road, funneling traffic into U S 7 from Willow Road only. Overhead lane and turning indicators will designate through and passing lanes. Work will start soon with a targeted completion before winter, though traffic light deliveries may delay.

Pot Found In Vermont Death Car
Four packets of plantlike material found in the Bethel station wagon that carried six youths killed Saturday were marijuana, according to Lt. Robert Iverson head of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Police planned to send other pills to outside labs to check for hallucinogenic content. The dead were five youths from Pennsylvania and one from New York City.
LeMay Considered as Wallace Running Mate
New Haven UPI report says Wallace campaign aides expect retired Gen Curtis LeMay to be named vice presidential candidate to support George Wallace. LeMay, former Air Force chief and SAC head, lives in Los Angeles and has written critically about defense. Parker called him a top choice since the campaign began.
