Kennedy Granted Unanimous Expanded Powers as NBA Commissioner

The NBA board granted Commissioner Walter Kennedy final and binding authority on scheduling, fines up to 250000 for tampering, and disputes between clubs, with appeals only for prejudicial actions. The move, approved November 11 in Phoenix by 12 of 17 clubs, expands Kennedy’s scope beyond explicit rules, while preserving a two thirds overrule option for major fines. Kennedy, since 1963, inherits the league's leadership role amid praise from Abe Pollin and a potential three quarters vote to modify later.
