Christmas Seal Campaign Opens with Large Mailing
The Vermont Tuberculosis and Health Association launched its 1964 Christmas Seal Campaign with a mailing of 110000 letters, the largest in the association's history and one of the Burlington Post Office's biggest mailings. Officials in New York and Barre announced the opening. The drive supports TB case finding, drug therapy, and a broader fight on respiratory diseases, with Vermont reporting 38 new TB cases so far this year and high regional death rates from emphysema and chronic lung diseases.
