LBJ’s Texas Ranch as a Camp David Style Retreat
United Press International reports Johnson will likely keep returning to his Texas LBJ ranch for seclusion and rest, continuing a pattern from the White House era. The article notes his preference for the Texas spread over travel elsewhere and draws historical parallels to Camp David origins for Kennedy Eisenhower and Roosevelt.

Postwar Church Boom Fades As Membership Wanes
A long postwar church surge eased into waning interest as infant baptisms fall across major Protestant denominations. The Methodist Church saw baptisms drop 23 percent from 212,799 in 1959 to 163,572 in 1963, despite stable birthrates. Experts cite social climate and conformity pressures reducing participation.

Indian Dies In Racial Fight Near Lillington NC
A Lumbee Indian, James Carl Dunn, 27, of Angier, was stabbed to death early Sunday in a racial melee at a tavern-pool room two miles from Lillington. Dunn and his wife and another Indian couple refused to leave when asked to segregate. A Negro tourist-court operator, Leola Johnson, was jailed as the stabbing and its assailant remained unidentified. Coroner Warren called it a purely racial matter in the county’s first such violence, as deputies questioned possible witnesses and tried to identify the killer.
