PSB to Hear Utilities Over Rate Hike Pleas in June
The Vermont Public Service Board told electric utilities to be ready to argue for back revenue they seek under the purchase power and fuel adjustment clause at a June 7 hearing. Ten major Vermont power firms filed rate requests totaling about 10 million dollars. The board may allow back payments in installments not exceeding 5 percent of monthly bills if it rules in favor. Concurrently Rutland opened a 33.6 percent permanent rate case for Central Vermont Public Service Corp, which seeks about 11.3 million dollars to cover wholesale power costs, citing Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant as a key factor.
