Emery Limoges of Brattleboro is transferred to Bennington as manager of Vermont Gas Corporation and Utilgas Inc. He began in Claremont New Hampshire, later in Brattleboro, and has served ten years here. He is vice president of Utilgas and a Rutland Gas Utility director. He replaces George DesLaurier and will reside at 130 Putnam Street with wife Addie as they plan to reconnect with old friends.
New York report details Travelers Insurance large share of household accident claims. In 1950s data the firm paid nearly half of total accident claims from home incidents, about three times automobile claims, totaling over 11 million dollars across five years. The company promotes safety awareness through advertising and community programs.
Dufresne and Henry, a Springfield based engineering firm, opened a Manchester Center branch in the Potentials Building on Main Street under area engineer W Byrd LaPrade of Londonderry. The office will hire a full survey crew after completing a two square mile Equinox House and Villas land survey, continuing firm plans with offices also in Peterborough New Hampshire and headquarters in Springfield.
St. Joachim's Church in Readsboro will gain a new two story parish hall and catechetical center. Reverend Martin F. Clancy announced building plans approved by Bishop Robert F. Joyce. William Kirby Jr. drafted preliminary plans for a wood structure costing about 46000 dollars. Construction eyed to begin in spring with completion expected in September 1967.
Bennington town records show transfers during May 13 to May 20. Transactions include Griffis to Harrington on a Bennington property bounded by Overlea Road, and McCoy to Capella and Gerspach with Park Street Extension and Houghton Lane bounds. Humphreys to the Babcocks near Morgan Street, Carpenter to Bristol along Roaring Branch Road, and LaFlamme families acquiring property along Roaring Branch Road. Also noted: Oct. 24 named United Nations Day by President Johnson with Kaiser as national chairman.
