Baptist Parley Elects Negro National Officer
In San Francisco UPI reports Rev. William M. Philpot a 37 year old Yale Divinity School graduate and New Haven pastor was elected one of three regional vice presidents of the American Baptist Ministers Council at the convention's opening. He is the first Negro honored in the 30 year history of the council. Delegates exceed 10,000 from 43 states and Puerto Rico for the five day meeting. Other results include Francis W. Trimmer elected convention president and Arthur L. Sickell re elected secretary with Lloyd P. Frederick named treasurer. Other regional vice presidents include Malcolm E. Haughey of Berkeley and Franz E. Oerth of Waterloo.

Saint Gaudens Home Opens for Summer in Cornish NH
Saint-Gaudens Museum at Cornish New Hampshire opens for the 1965 season on Sunday May 30. Visitors can view the Saint-Gaudens house studios gardens and grounds, plus more than 100 works by Augustus Saint-Gaudens including the Shaw Memorial the Puritan the Seated Lincoln and many bas-relief portraits of 19th century writers educators artists and friends. Open daily 10 to 5 through October 15.

Altar Rosary Society Holds Final Year Meeting at CHS
The Altar Rosary Society of St. Francis de Sales Church convened Monday at CHS for a business meeting led by president Mrs. Magdalene Hogan. Plans for the Mother-Daughter dinner at BCHS cafeteria were set for Sunday at 6 p.m. Father Thomas Bransfield, the new director, spoke briefly thanking members for their cooperation. A new officers roster was announced with Mrs. Jane Latif named president.
