Trackless Trackers Run In Spite of Obstacles
Thirty five boys from Bennington High School endure rain and snow for a makeshift track so Catamounts can field a team this season. Coach Hugh Perkins and assistant Tom Butterfield took the squad to Hoosac for the opener, noting the meet was rough after one practice. They plan many meets to expose runners to track, while practicing on a quarter mile loop at Memorial Park. The improvised track features rocks and six hurdles, with several hurdles not from the school. Benhi will host one meet this spring amid BYOH talks to fix arrangements.
