F W Woolworth to depart Bennington after 40 years
The F W Woolworth store on Main Street Bennington will close next week ending a long era since 1915. High rents and new merchandising push shopping centers out of downtown. A fire in January 16 1d destroyed the original store, later reopened in the Cone building as memories of Main Street retail fade.
