Senators urged to postpone debate until Tuesday to review a revised bill on container deposits and pollution fees. Sen. The House revised corrections and felon definitions were also addressed, plus a cross-state motor vehicle code alignment. Vermont campus beer wine bill pushed by lawmakers
Around Vermont Campus bars encouraged. MONTPELIER UPI Representatives of higher education urged passage of a bill to permit sales of beer and wine on college campuses to boost contact between students and faculty and guests. Sen T Garry Buckley introduced the measure to counter the Liquor Control Board's denial of a license to St Michael's College. Buckley argued that if year olds have the right to drink the board should not bar campus sales, while the board chair Lawrence Dawson said colleges should not be in the business of selling alcohol to students.

New York judge overturns ruling on Storm King plant impact
State Supreme Court justice DeForest Pitt reversed environmental Commissioner Henry Diamond’s decision allowing Con Edison to start building the Storm King power plant on the Hudson River. The judge said Diamond failed to consider evidence on water quality and noted conditions shown insufficient assurance. Environmentalists warned the 2000 megawatt plant could draw river water and push saltwater upstream, risking fresh water quality. Diamond argued the Water Quality Act requires only reasonable assurance, with shutdown if operations lower water quality.
