A long celebrated 1930s two lane Ethan Allen highway completion in Bennington County sparked a gala parade from the Vermont Massachusetts line at Pownal to Manchester. Women drove the lead roadster, Edith Williams and Louise Hayes, as William Lowe decorated the DeSoto with roses. Local bands joined the 30 mile route with dignitaries from both states.
