Master Plan Okay Urged At Pre Town Meeting

Local residents urged adoption of Article 23 at the pre town meeting to enable federal funds for sewer and water extensions. Town Counsel Norton Barber said acceptance would not approve zoning or building codes, but would make the planning commission a central clearing house for public improvements. Housing officials stressed federal aid prospects for elderly and low income housing, noting other towns have progressed after planning acceptance. Citizens raised questions on timing for codes and road projects, while officials emphasized educating voters about the measure’s limited impact.
