A Wednesday afternoon blaze virtually destroyed the Adams Super Market on Park Street in Adams Massachusetts with damage to building and merchandise estimated over 500000. About 25 employees and several shoppers escaped unharmed while ten women on a rear roof were guided down by firefighters. The fire started in a rear women rest room around 4 pm and spread rapidly. the fire was controlled by 6 pm as investigators probe possible matches and cloth remnants. The store, employing about 50 people, faced threats to the town’s main shopping district across the street.
