Utilities offer free bus rides for nuclear rally workers

Narragansett Electric Co. will provide a bus and box lunches for employees traveling from Providence to Manchester New Hampshire this Sunday to demonstrate for nuclear power. Spokesman Andrew Kadak plans to attend. stockholders will cover expenses. The rally is backed by New Hampshire Voice of Energy, amid a large anti nuclear protest at Seabrook. Narragansett and New England Power propose twin reactors on former Navy land in Charlestown, Rhode Island.

Bennington AARP chapter finishes summer meetings schedule

AARP Bennington chapter wrapped its summer meetings with a June 9 covered dish luncheon at Colgate Hall First Baptist Church drawing 92 attendees. Robert Marples led the meeting which approved two community projects, a Food for the BOC Emergency Shelf and a $50 donation to the Bennington Free Library for large print books.
