Health officials report no direct correlation between high blood lead in Bennington children and elevated tapwater lead. Only 9 of 196 children tested in May had mildly elevated blood counts, from homes with varying water lead levels. Further analysis planned while corrosion control proceeds.

Vandalized Gardens Reported in Bennington Area

Bennington police report two consecutive nights of garden vandalism. Six or seven gardens along the Gage Street Extension Woodward Drive area were targeted. In a separate incident three gardens on Putnam Street Jefferson Ave were damaged, with two flower beds and a vegetable patch trampled.
