Legal Aid to challenge firing without hearing in Vermont
Vermont Legal Aid contests a state department practice of terminating unemployment benefits without a prior hearing. The suit centers on Diane Wheeler of Rutland whose payments stopped for not actively seeking work, with arguments that a hearing should precede benefit cessation. The case cites broader welfare court trends toward continued benefits pending hearings.
