North Adams voters to decide on ending ward government
Voters on November 2 will decide whether to scrap the current 12 ward system. The plan would cut City Council from 15 to nine, shift all councilors to at large elections, and expand the mayor’s appointing and firing powers. Judge Ernest H. Rosasco, the campaign leader, argues it would reduce ward parochialism and improve qualifications across the council. Three councilors are currently elected at large in addition to ward representatives.
