Kirk withdraws as favorite son endorses Rockefeller
Florida governor Claude Kirk pulled his favorite son bid for the GOP presidential nomination and endorsed Nelson Rockefeller at a joint news conference with Rockefeller. Body in Vermont Car Found in New York Barge Canal
State police diving in the Barge Canal at Waterford New York found a 1953 Chevrolet with 1963 Vermont plates containing an unidentified body. The body, in water up to five years, was moved to Albany Medical Center for ID. Medical examiner said death did not appear violent. Vermont officials were contacting for identification. Car was found while divers sought an auto stolen about a month earlier. Nearby residents recalled no accident.
