Phone Company seeks higher local rates in Vermont filing
New England Telephone asks the Vermont Public Service Board for approval to raise residential and business rates and installation charges. The move follows a prior rejection for a 38 percent residential fee hike, with proposed increases of about 25 percent for one and two party lines and 15 percent for four party service. The company also seeks to raise installation charges from 12 to 32.50 dollars and plans to spread payments over three months for those unable to pay upfront.
