Building boom hits Bennington area in 1964 records
Builders and contractors in Bennington and surrounding towns set a year of new records in 1964. Major projects included the A and P shopping center, Paradise Motor Inn, Crescent Manor Nursing Home, a cancer research lab, and a state liquor store in Bennington. North Bennington and other towns saw banks, schools, hotels, and homes expanded or erected, with Williams College and Manchester also signaling large new facilities. Local firms and entrepreneurs added numerous storefronts and service centers, and ski area development plus vacation homes reshaped the region, signaling a transformative year.
