A three story frame building at the corner of Gage and North Streets was razed Friday by a wind driven blaze that started in a boiler room of an automatic laundry on the ground floor. The fire left a murky shambles, with about 150000 dollars in damage, forcing all 17 tenants to find new quarters.

Accused Spy Says He's Innocent
BAY SHORE New York UPI reports accused spy Robert G Thompson denied selling military secrets to Russia. He admitted a security clearance in Berlin but claimed he was only a coffee boy and a janitor at SAC bases. Thompson, 29, posted bail and held a news conference insisting he never sold secrets and remains loyal to the United States. Federal charges say he was recruited by Soviet agents while with the Air Force in Berlin and received 1700 from Moscow for missile data. He says he had no access to valuable material and his Long Island business was damaged by the case.
