Astronomy notes Jupiter's position improves for viewing as all four Galilean moons align to cast shadows on the planet. Transits show the satellite as a bright spot while its shadow appears dark. The inner satellites heavily eclipse Jupiter each revolution, and occultations occur when a satellite disappears behind the disk.

Arlington school district gains in state aid correction
Arlington Town School District learned from Supt Leon Wagner that a state Taxes error yields $5,900 more in state aid this year. Earlier, the district faced $11,070 less than last year and $17,593 less than budget estimates, prompting a petition to Tax Commissioner Gerald Witherspoon. The retroactive payment cannot arrive before July 1, but at least $5,900 plus last month’s $42,407 check should come next year, leaving a $5,000 shortfall versus last year.
